A Yorkshire based glazing specialist has been commissioned to design and install curtain walling to a number of supermarkets across the UK.

NG Developments (Normanton) Ltd, based in Normanton, Wakefield and one of the UK’s leading specialists in design, manufacturing and installation of architectural aluminium glazing systems has been commissioned to help construct five new glass frontages and door systems for a variety of supermarkets spread across the north of England.

The supermarkets include three new Tesco stores in Skipton, Barnsley and Newcastle and two Aldi stores in Sheffield and Grimsby.

Adrian Lee, commercial director at NG commented: “Although the majority of business sectors have been hit hard by the recession, the supermarkets are thriving and opening new stores across the country. We have seen the supermarket side of our business grow by more than 300% in the last twelve months and we are actively negotiating further even larger supermarket projects for 2010.”

Lee continued: “It’s been a challenging time for the industry as a whole, but as a company we have enjoyed that challenge and have developed many new client relationships along the way. This, along with the repeat business from our loyal client base, has helped NG grow through a downturn in the economy. Another key factor in this growth, has been through the diversity in the product range we are able to offer our clients. NG have a vast amount of experience in the design and installation of Rainscreen cladding systems and have recently added fire-rated Curtain Wall, Windows and Doors to our product range. Overall, we have had a very successful year and are looking forward to a prosperous 2010!”

The stores NG Developments have completed or are working on include:

1. Tesco Skipton – Technal Curtain Walling, Windows and Record UK automation to the entrance doors.

2. Tesco Barnsley – an extension and re-furbishment to the existing store

3. Tesco, Eldon Square, Newcastle – a new Metro store in the heart of the Eldon Square shopping district.

4. Aldi, St Marys Gate, Sheffield – the re-development of existing units into a new Aldi store, due to be opened early in the new year.

5. Aldi, Grimsby – a new-build store using Technal MX Curtain Walling with anti-bandit glazing and automatic entrance doors.
